The "Bug Nebula", NGC6302

GC 6302, the "Bug Nebula", (also called the "Butterfly Nebula") is a bipolar planetary nebula in the constellation Scorpius. The central star is one of the hottest of its kind, about 200.000 K. The central star can't be seen due the dense equatorial disc composed of gas and dust. The disc might be the reason for the bipolar structure of this bright planetary nebula Distance is about 3500 light years.
